Pollution Fencing Screens

SPF Ivy Pollution Fencing Screens are a new innovative way to combat pollution in built up areas, improve air quality, create biodiversity and improve overall wellbeing.

Our premium screens troughs are made from galvanised steel and can be placed in any location outside to instantly improve the air quality and act a privacy screen. We are providing screens to schools in build up areas where air quality is low. We are also supplying screens to outside eating and drinking areas to create a welcoming environment whilst cleaning the air from polluting traffic.  We have even designed a trough on wheels that can be moved around and can be placed in a public area to create a temporary barrier.

Specification

  • Galvanised troughs 1.2m long x 400mm wide x 400mm deep
  • Hedera Helix screens range from 1m to 1.8m high, pre grown and fixed to a light weldmesh fence

The Science

Studies indicate that the  Hedera Helix  instant Ivy fencing, has the capacity to absorb approximately 60% of nitrogen dioxide and concentrations of (ultra) fine dust particulates. This Hedera variant maintains its greenery throughout the year and consistently generates new leaves. The expanding leaf surface plays a crucial role in effectively absorbing fine dust particulates from the surrounding air. While larger particulates adhere to the leaves until washed away by rain, ultra-small particulates become gas particles within the stomata of the leaves.

The Facts

Air pollution primarily stems from traffic and industrial activities, introducing particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and ozone (smog) into the atmosphere. Coarse dust results from mechanical processes and airborne dust, while ultra-fine dust particulates arise from combustion processes, such as those occurring in cars. These ultra-fine particulates pose significant harm as they can penetrate deep into the body through the lungs, causing damage. The World Health Organization (WHO) highlights that globally, over 90 percent of children under 15 years old inhale polluted air daily, putting their health at risk. Children, due to their faster breathing rate, are particularly susceptible to the adverse effects of air pollution.
