Innovative Acoustic Fencing Solution Completed in Central London
Sampson & Partners Fencing (SPF) has recently completed a bespoke fencing project on a rooftop in Central London, showcasing our expertise in delivering tailored acoustic solutions in challenging environments.
The project involved enclosing large Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) using high-quality acoustic timber, carefully installed to minimise gaps and maximise sound attenuation. With limited fixing points available on the concrete rooftop, our team engineered custom galvanised steel posts to ensure a secure and durable installation.
ASHPs, while efficient and relatively quiet, still produce noticeable sound—especially in larger units. These systems are often installed on concrete bases, making traditional acoustic fencing, which typically requires partial burial, unsuitable. Additionally, space constraints on urban rooftops mean fencing must be placed closer to the units. However, because ASHPs emit heat, fully enclosed solid fencing is not a viable option.
To overcome these challenges, SPF has been working closely with architects and contractors to design fencing solutions that not only meet acoustic requirements but also enhance the visual appeal of the site. Our approach balances functionality with aesthetics, ensuring that essential infrastructure is both protected and discreetly integrated into the overall design.
We believe the results speak for themselves—delivering performance, precision, and professionalism in every project.
